How do Digital Character Sketch Journals help students summarize the text from a character's perspective?

How else might you use VoiceThreads in an adolescent literature classroom?

  1. I think that digital character sketch journals allow students to summarize the text from a character's perspective because they are able to somewhat "become" that charcter. The students attempt to get inside the character's mind and convey that character's thoughts, personality, feelings, etc. I think that this process is most beneficial because it really asks students to use critical thinking skills and analyze the literature and the character.

I think that you could use VoiceThreads in an adolescent literature classroom through a collaborative group book report. It would be such a fun way for a group to be interactive with one another and be creative whereas often times book reports can be somewhat dry and oftentimes boring for students to do. Yet, with students being have to discuss and comment with one another in that way, I think it would lead to a deeper analysis of a book.

  2. I love the book report idea! Students could really invest their own perspectives through the slides and narration.
