Book banned in 2010
This book was banned in April 2010 by the school board in Stockton, Missouri.. Reasons were listed as "sexual language, "off-color" jokes, discussion of racism, alcoholism and violence." Funny - that sounds like most cable TV shows.
Great to observe that this book is on the banned books list. Censorship is a big issue in adolescent literature. Teachers need to follow district curriculum guidelines, as well as their own professional understanding of what good literature is.
